Improving Literacy Through a Strong Foundation.

Let's Make The Community a Better Place

Open a new chapter for literacy awareness and reading programs for families throughout South Carolina.

What We Do

Through collaborative efforts with public libraries and other organizations, we support literacy projects and advocate for awareness of literacy issues in SC.

What We’ve Done
The SC State Library has supported the various literacy, librarianship and community efforts of programs such as:

Literacy / Book Related

We want to increase the opportunity to connect books and reading opportunities to children and families. Your support can help us get there.

Our History

The SC State Library Foundation was founded in 1996, designated as a public charity. It operates as a non-profit, educational/charitable organization under applicable laws of the state of South Carolina and the Internal Revenue Code as a 501(c)3 organization run by a community based board of directors.

Support Us

The South Carolina State Library Foundation works with the SC State Library to provide support to libraries in many ways. Often when there is a natural disaster or other hardship, people want to be able to help South Carolina libraries. SCSL Foundation accepts gifts—monetary donations for collections or programs—or new materials to support a library’s collection. For questions, please contact Denise Lyons ([email protected])
